This is what’s wrong with America, I bought this Latin Dance Time album because the sticker on the front said “Guaranteed Perfect”, so I would have something NICE to share with you.

And when I take the album out at home, why, it was absolutely filthy. So naturally I completely cleaned it up by the recommended LP audiophile standards, a little spit and the bottom of my t-shirt, it might have been more successful had I not been drinking Hawaiian Punch at the time, I don’t know. So I guess the sound quality is just somewhat south (SSE, actually) of perfect. But that insistent tsch-tsch-tsch of the mambo clave beat comes out loud and clear, or maybe that’s just a scratch on the vinyl. “Guaranteed Perfect”, indeed.
That said, “Koldoba” is a very excellent cut, what with hooting and hollering and tres dramatique “summon the toreador” trumpet parts and all. “Mambo con Fuego” is a real barn-burner too, should you be in the market for some music to assist you in the removal of some outbuildings on your homestead. And “Chombo Rumba”, with its endearing skip at the start of the tune, will have you chiming in with the cheery refrain “lotsa caramaaaaaal wedgies....."

I too am a big fan of the 'Spit and T-shirt' method of cleaning old records. It musta been the Hawaiian Punch.
