La Cucaracha Cha Cha

In my endless quest to post every horrible 60s album ever recorded, today's gift to Posterity is “Big Band Cha Cha Cha” by Freddy Sateriale (possibly kin to the Soprano’s butcher?). This one is such a Sunday afternoon visit to granny's house that it will leave a lingering taste of circus peanuts in your mouth, that’s the effect it had on me. The arrangements can best be described as “ham-handed”—an offhand reference to “Turkey in the Straw” (or is it Arkansas Traveler? whatever.) on a cha cha album would usually be a source of delight, but “Cha Cha Amigo” beats it into the ground by repeating it again and again. Although I have to admit, “La Cucaracha Cha Cha” is pretty funny.

As always, if I don't particularly like an album, I only convert the songs with stupid titles:

Barrippi Mambo
I've Got You Under My Skin Cha Cha
Scampian Merengue
ChaCha Amigo
La Cucaracha Cha Cha

Big Band Cha Cha Cha

Image of circus peanut bag from The Ultimate Bad Candy Website, who describes the scourge of circus peanuts and their contribution to the demise of Western Civilization better than I could ever hope to.
